Biblical allegories are a way of interpreting the Bible that focuses on spiritual meanings. An allegorical interpretation looks for deeper within the text for multiple meanings both hidden and literal.
One of my favorite resources for allegorical interpretations of the Bible, is The Book of Wisdom, Volume 1. I know in our previous blog posts on the Christos Oil and the Seven Seals we offered a different "lens" to look at these topics through.
Take a look at the short list below from an allegorical perspective:
"The Most Holy Place" - The Pineal Gland
"Two Cherubim"- The 2 Hemispheres of the Brain
"The Right Hand of God"- The Right Hemisphere of the Brain
The Brain in the Bible is referred to as the Upper Room where Jesus meets the 12 Disciples, which the 12 Disciples correlate to the 12 Cranial Nerves
The 3 Wise Men who are known for presenting gifts to Christ at his birth, can be linked to the 3 essential glands in the brain- thalamus, pineal and pituitary. Which contribute dopamine, serotonin and melatonin, which are what are body relies on for functioning in a state of harmony.
These are just a few of many allegorical examples for how others have interpreted the Bible from a spiritual perspective. You can also often see similar representations of these meanings amongst Masonic Artwork.
