Grounding & Connecting With The Earth Element

The Earth Element is a feminine element representing foundations, stability, balance, and abundance.  It is represented by the cardinal direction North, as well as, Virgo, Taurus and Capricorn in Astrology, and Pentacles in Tarot.  Earth energy is tied directly to our Root Chakra.  It is our sense of safety, security, and purpose. Connecting with the Earth Element can help ease racing thoughts, ungrounded energy, and help balance overwhelming emotions.

The easiest way to connect with the Earth Element is to simply get outside.  This can be simply going for a walk, walking barefoot in the grass, gardening, and getting your hands in the dirt, swinging in a hammock, or even simply sitting or lying on the ground. When practicing any type of grounding or earthing, relaxing your body and incorporating breathwork are a must.  Allow yourself to just "be", get connected with your breath and tune into the areas of your body that need an energetic release. Focus on releasing and letting go of intrusive, swirling thoughts and try to let your mind go blank.  Tune into what is around you, the ground beneath you, the air on your face and the sounds of nature.

Getting outside isn't the only way to connect with the Earth Element. Plants, flowers, and shells are simple and easy things you can incorporate in your personal space. Succulents are a great place to start if you're new on the plant scene, they are low maintenance and there are so many beautiful ones to choose from.

You can pair herbs and crystals together and make a simple mojo bag or incorporate them into candle magic.  Crystals can be used during meditation practices, on altar spaces, worn as jewelry, or even simply carried in your pocket.

In these times where things are picking up energetically, make sure you are taking time to connect with the Earth Element, ground your energy, and keep yourself in a balanced state.
