Homemade Four Thieves Oil Blend

If you've never heard of Four Thieves Oil, it's a highly concentrated essential oil blend that has powerful anti-bacterial and antimicrobial properties. The story of the Four Thieves dates back to the 14th century during the time of the Plague.  It was said that four merchants out of work took up robbing the homes and bodies of the deceased for anything of value. Because the plague was so contagious, they would wear hats and masks that smelled of vinegar, garlic and specific herbs (cloves, lemon, cinnamon, eucalyptus and rosemary). As the story is told, when the thieves were finally caught they offered to share their secret for how they never got sick in exchange for leniency in regards to their punishment which authorities shared publicly.

4 Thieves Oil is incredibly concentrated and can be used in diffusers, diluted in water as a cleaning spray for hard surfaces and floors, as well as topically when diluted with a carrier oil. Because this is such a concentrated oil it should never be applied directly to skin.

4 Thieves Concentrated Oil Recipe:

*1- 2oz Glass Amber Dropper Bottle

*25 Drops Clove Essential Oil

*20 Drops Sweet Orange Essential Oil

(You can also swap out sweet orange with 20 drops Lemon Essential Oil)

*12 Drops Cinnamon Bark Essential Oil

* 8 Drops Eucalyptus Oil

* 6 Drops Rosemary Essential Oil

I use therapeutic grade oils and if you intend to use topically always use therapeutic grade oils

To make your own 4 Thieves cleansing spray, you will need a glass spray bottle, and you want to add 5-10 drops of your concentrated oil per ounce of water. You can also use this ratio with a diffuser as well.

To make a roller bottle to use topically, you will want a glass amber roller bottle and will use a dilution ratio of 1 drop 4 Thieves Concentrated Oil per 4 drops of carrier oil. Fractioned Coconut Oil, Jojoba Oil, Rosehip Oil, Avocado Oil and Neem Oil are all great carrier oils. Topically this is commonly used on the wrists and the back of the neck and is used to help boost immunity.
