Simmer pots are great to incorporate into your spiritual hygiene practices, as they give you the
opportunity to infuse the energy of your own intentions, as well as, incorporate the four elements (Earth, Air, Fire, Water). The base of this practice uses the element of water, paired with herbs from the Earth, than fire is used as a catalyst in the heating process, and lastly the biproduct (steam) from the process of combining the other three elements results in steam, rising into the air. Of course, the energy of your intentions added into the practice brings this full circle by encompassing Spirit, which is often referred to as Ether or Aether, better known as the fifth element. This is best represented by spiritualists as the five-pointed star or (pentacle).
When creating your simmer pot, you want to make sure that you choose herbs that match your
intentions. You can use fresh or dry herbs. Begin by adding water to your pot and filling it half
way. Then set it on medium heat. Now you will begin incorporating your ingredients, making
sure that you are using "the energy" of the intentions you set with each ingredient you add to the pot. If your intention is to attract something, you want to stir your ingredients in a clockwise motion,
but if your intention is to banish or rid something then you will want to stir in a counterclockwise motion. Allow your water to simmer until there is only a small amount left in your pan.
**Bonus: Simmer pots can serve a dual purpose in spiritual hygiene practices. You can choose to keep more water in your pot during the simmering process, remove from the heat, strain
your herbs and once it cools to a safe temperature incorporate the remaining liquid into a
spiritual bath.**
