The Egg of Life (Sacred Geometry)

It's fitting that to talk about the egg of life, while the collective is going through its own little rebirth stage these next few weeks leading towards Spring. The egg is one of the many well-known sacred geometrical symbols that have been used for centuries to best understand and innerstand the Universe and our connection in the most basic of forms. It has been said to be found in a multitude of more complex geometrical shapes, such as, the Flower of Life, the Fruit of Life, and Metatron's Cube, just to name a few.

So, what exactly is the Egg of Life. It's made up of eight spheres of identical size and proportions, where each one is in contact and touching its neighbor. It is considered a symmetric, three-dimensional geometric pattern. Although it may seem simple, scientists and philosophers of many different eras and cultures have theorized the significance of this sacred pattern in a multitude of ways. Some claim it has a large fundamental structural role in the creation and beginning of all physical forms within our Universe. The egg is actually said to be the base pattern to serve as the morphogenic structure for the first eight cells that form in the human body after fertilization. This simple pattern is an exact geometric structure only mirrored in the cellular configuration during the earliest creation stages of our existence.

In many cultures the egg itself has always signified birth and the beginning on life in its many forms. The shape that this structure forms being a single cell, and the building blocks of all organic life on this planet, is why it has been coined The Egg of Life. Because its basic pattern is the same arrangement of cells that the embryo takes within the first few hours, is what has gained it the nickname of the blueprint of creation of life, the basic pattern that nature designed to build on in not only a cellular level, but also an energetic one. Nature has not limited this geometric shape to just embryo cells, but it can also be seen in the natural patterns of some fruits and plants, specifically within their seed arrangements, often mimicking this structure.

The Egg of Life spiritually has been known to represent balance, fertility, health, creation energy, and even protection. Some have used this sacred symbol in meditation practices for focus. Other have used it in place of other protection symbols, such as the evil eye. Some believe it holds great protection because, the way that all of the circles are connected, it forms a shield pattern that has been associated with the divine energy and many growth and nurturing aspects of life (much like a chicken eggshell protects the growing chick).

Do you think the Egg of Life is a powerful spiritual symbol, or over-rated and overplayed?
