As we continue on through a great period of transition on a collective level, many have found themselves feeling “stuck”, unsure of what the “next step” is on their path, or some may be experiencing perceived blockages. Well, let us introduce you to Abre Camino, also known as the “Road Opener”. Koanophyllon villosum, commonly known as Abre Camino, is a flowering plant from the Asteraceae family. It is commonly found in the Florida Keys, Cuba, the Bahamas, Jamaica, and part of Honduras. As an oil it has been used in Hoodoo and Santeria practices.
This is a powerful and versatile herb with many metaphysical properties:
Clears “blockages”
Opens “doors”
Defeats perceived obstacles
Cleanses and clears energy
Protection
Prosperity
Strength
Power
Enhances the “inner focus” of the practitioner
Assists in the removal of hexes and curses in some practices.
The magical properties of Abre Camino can be harnessed in several different ways:
Candle magic- as a loose herb, candles can be rolled in.
Oil- it can be infused in oil and used to dress a candle, added to a bath, or anointed on your wrists, neck and even ankles. Satchel (referred to by some as a Mojo Bag)- pair this herb with rainbow fluorite and butterfly pea flower for a more “powerful” road opener.
Spiritual Bath- it can be steeped in hot water and was it has cooled to safe temperature can be added to a bath or can be added to a bath tea bag/satchel and added directly to the water.

As with any metaphysical practices, intention is EVERYTHING and because this is such a powerful and life changing herb, make sure you spend plenty of time being very specific on what your personal intentions are when choosing to utilize the energy this herb has to offer.
